Dear Patients:
After more than 35 years of private practice as Wilmington Neurology Consultants, we have come to the bittersweet decision to close our group practice on September 30, 2023 due to physician retirement and relocation out of state. Dr. N. Joseph Schrandt retired June 30, 2023 and Dr. Lee Dresser is moving out of state. Staff members Sheria Hudson, NP and Charla Phoenix, PA will be taking new positions in the area.

Dr. William Sommers will remain active in the area with a combination of hospital coverage, patient care, and independent neurological consulting. He is taking no new patients at this time. All inquiries regarding availability for independent medical evaluations should be sent to his assistant at .
MEDICAL RECORD REQUESTS
The office staff can fulfill record requests until our closing. Record requests starting October 1, 2023 should be faxed to 302-892-9407 or a message can be left at 302-892-9400. Please take note that if you have requested records be sent to the Updox Patient Portal you must retrieve your records by October 15th. Access to the portal will end on that date. All record requests must be accompanied by an authorization unless they are being transferred to a provider.
Rest assured we will continue to provide medical care to our patients and assist in any way we can with your transition of care from now until our closing.

Wilmington Neurology Consultants was founded by Dr. William Sommers in 1986. Dr. Schrandt and Dr. Dresser joined the practice in 1996. Sheria Hudson, NP has been treating patients with us since 2007 and Charla Phoenix, PA-C joined us in 2011.
We treat patients with headache, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, nerve disease, sleep disorders, memory disorders and other neurological conditions. We perform and interpret electroencephalograms (EEGs), sleep studies, nerve conduction testing and electromyograms (EMGs). We are experienced neurological practitioners and treat our patients in a caring, respectful and professional manner.
Our office is located in the Medical Office Building of St. Francis Hospital in a convenient location in Wilmington, Delaware. We have free, covered parking immediately adjacent to our office. Our secretaries and business staff are friendly, experienced and knowledgeable and will help make your evaluation and treatment efficient and pleasant.
Our Team
Lee P. Dresser, MD
Received B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. Graduated from Wake Forest School of Medicine. Completed residency in neurology at Duke University Medical Center and then a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at Duke, which included training in EEG interpretation, epilepsy and sleep medicine. Dr. Dresser has been selected a Delaware Top Doc multiple times.
Dr. Dresser has been treating patients at Wilmington Neurology Consultants since 1996. He is board certified in neurology and sleep medicine.
N. Joseph Schrandt, MD
Dr. Schrandt was born and raised in eastern Iowa, graduated from University of Minnesota Medical School and completed neurology residency at the University of Iowa. After a year of epilepsy fellowship in Minneapolis, he practiced general adult neurology there for five years before moving to Wilmington, Delaware along with his wife, a family physician, and their three children. He has practiced neurology with Wilmington Neurology Consultants since 1996, and has been named a “Top Doctor” by Delaware Today.
Dr. Schrandt is board-certified in neurology, EEG and clinical neurophysiology, sleep medicine and headache medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Epilepsy Society, American Headache Society and is a fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
William Sommers, DO, FAAN
Dr. Sommers graduated Magna Cum Laude from Duke University. He received his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his neurology residency at Temple University, where he served as chief resident in his senior year. He is board certified in neurology and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. He is consistently recognized as a “Top Doc” by Delaware Today.
Charla Phoenix, PA
Charla Phoenix graduated from Widener University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Elementary education. She worked in the University of Pennsylvania department of Sleep Medicine as polysomnography technician performing sleep studies. She also worked as a polysomnography technician in the department of Sleep Medicine at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware before attending physician assistant school in 2008. She received her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant studies, from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010. She is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is a member of the Delaware Academy of Physician Assistants. She is also licensed to practice medicine in the states of Delaware and Pennsylvania. She joined Wilmington Neurology Consultants in 2011. In her spare time she enjoys going to concerts, playing the electric bass (amateur!) and caring for her 3 pets.
Sheria Hudson, NP
Sheria Hudson is a native of Wilmington, Delaware. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Biological Science and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Delaware. In 2006 she obtained her Master of Science in Nursing from the Wilmington University Family Nurse Practitioner program. She is board certified and an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is a member of the American Nurses Association and the Sigma Theta Tau international nursing honors society.
Sheria joined Wilmington Neurology Consultants in 2007. She has worked as an adjunct faculty clinical instructor for the Drexel University post baccalaureate nursing program. She works part time as a registered nurse on a surgical unit at Wilmington Hospital (Christiana Care). In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and their 2 children.
